Onegin. Houston Ballet. As multifaceted as the poem that inspired it, John Cranko's Onegin has been referred to as one of the finest narrative ballets of the late 20th century. Your passions will range from heartfelt to heartbroken as you witness this exquisite tale of youthful arrogance and mature regret. Classically Modern. Houston Ballet. From the best of 20th and 21st century choreographers comes a program as diverse as dance itself. Hans van Manen’s Solo is an athletic tour-de-force for three gifted male dancers, set to music by Johann Sebastian Bach. Artistic director Stanton Welch’s Mediæval Bæbes features female artists performing to the music of an a cappella group by the same name. Jerome Robbins’ Afternoon of a Faun looks in on a young couple in a rehearsal studio, with audience as mirror. George Balanchine’s dazzling Symphony in C makes for a grand finale, a stunning showpiece for the full company. 7:30pm.
